Reuben Abati Criticizes Wike Over Comments on Peter Obi

  • Media personality and former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has criticized FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for saying Peter Obi “lacks character” and should not return to the PDP.
  • Speaking on Arise TV, Abati argued that Wike has no moral right to question anyone’s character, faulting his remarks about the former Anambra governor.

Media personality and former presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, has faulted Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his recent remarks about Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Wike had on Monday, September 1, dismissed the possibility of Obi returning to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), claiming the former Anambra governor “lacks character” and that such a move would “kill the party.” He further argued that Obi once described the PDP as “rotten,” and coming back to contest under the same platform would undermine his credibility.

Reacting during a broadcast on Arise TV, Abati condemned Wike’s comments, insisting the minister is in no position to question anyone’s character. He stressed that Wike himself has been controversial within the PDP and should be cautious about attacking others.

‘’Wike is saying that PDP will be destroyed if Peter Obi comes back to PDP because Peter Obi doesn’t have the character having condemned PDP as a rotten party to come back to the PDP.

Wike is not in a position to talk about character. He is not the one to talk about character. If he wants to talk about character, he should question his own character. I do not know why people have problems with basic intelligence and decorum. He goes on television to say Peter Obi doesn’t have character.

Peter Obi left PDP and went to Labour party, now he is in ADC. In fact, it is Wike himself that destroyed the party.

He was talking about Peter Obi, Goodkluck Jonathan, Nasir El-Rufai. What gives him that moral high ground to talk recklessly and unintelligently’ he said
