The controversial singer Azeez Fashola, Naira Marley, was called upon by the House of Representatives on Thursday in an attempt to obtain the musical rights to the works of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
Jiggy Adeoye, the manager of Mohbad, was also invited by the House Committee on Justice, Youth, and Legislative Compliance to testify on October 31.
On September 12, 2023, Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record business, passed away under mysterious circumstances. The 27-year-old singer’s death was subject to a coroner’s inquest, which the Lagos State Government ordered.
The House resolution was passed on Thursday after a motion made by Congressman Babajimi Benson, who represents the Ikorodu Federal Constituency in Lagos State.
Benson emphasised the need to review the laws governing the entertainment industry in a bid to safeguard artists’ copyrights and royalties.
