Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has publicly criticised Nigerian music star Wizkid, accusing him of disrespecting his late father while seeking clout.
In a strongly worded statement circulating online, Seun Kuti called on Wizkid to remove the tattoo of Fela Kuti on his arm, saying he should replace it with his own father’s image instead. According to Seun, Wizkid’s actions contradict the respect he claims to have for the Afrobeat pioneer.
Seun further alleged that Wizkid harbours resentment despite having Fela Kuti’s tattoo, insisting there is a clear difference between being inspired by a legend and attempting to replace one. He claimed that no member of the Kuti family holds Wizkid in high regard anymore.
Describing the singer as the “biggest clout chaser in Nigeria,” Seun argued that Wizkid’s real ambition is not inspiration but to position himself as a replacement for Fela Kuti in the music and cultural space.
