The family of popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has expressed deep concern following the release of her brother, Sammy West, who was granted bail after spending several days in detention.
The development comes in the middle of ongoing tension between the actress and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, over alleged cases of domestic violence.
After days of uncertainty, Sammy West whose real name is Samuel Daniels finally regained his freedom. His elder brother, Lawrence Daniels, also known as Sweezy, confirmed the news on social media while thanking Nigerians for their unwavering support.
In an emotional post shared on Instagram, Sweezy wrote:
“Sammy, you’re a great man! Bail has been granted. Nigerians, thank you. From day one, I’ve said it, I believe you on this media space. None of your efforts are taken for granted. On behalf of the Daniels family, I say thank you. Thank God say man no be God.”
Despite his brother’s release, Sweezy claimed the family’s ordeal is not yet over. He alleged that Senator Ned Nwoko played a role in Sammy’s initial arrest and was still using his influence to orchestrate a possible re-arrest.
According to him, Ned allegedly involved the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the matter a move he described as both “unlawful” and “vindictive.”
Sweezy further stated:
“Ned has also paid NDLEA to have Sammy picked up into their custody. But a magistrate court does not have jurisdiction over drug-related cases, only a federal high court.”
He went on to argue that the transfer of the case to the NDLEA was a breach of legal procedure, stressing that only a Federal High Court has the authority to preside over drug-related offenses.
The Daniels family has called on the public and relevant authorities to ensure justice and fairness as the situation continues to unfold.
