American rapper and singer Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, has regained his freedom after spending a few days behind bars.

The Grammy-winning star was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 21, following an incident that led to charges of misdemeanor assault against a police officer. Reports also indicated that he was hospitalized over concerns of a possible overdose, though the Los Angeles Police Department did not officially confirm this detail.

On Monday, August 25, Lil Nas X appeared in court where he entered a not-guilty plea to four felony counts three for battery causing injury to a police officer and one for resisting an executive officer, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.

He was held in custody until later that day when he secured his release by posting $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 15. If found guilty, he could face a sentence of up to five years in state prison, as noted in the DA’s statement.

Additionally, the presiding judge ordered him to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings each week, with police alleging that he may have been under the influence of drugs during the incident.
