The Nigeria Police Force has advised Nigerians to prioritise their personal safety and avoid resisting criminals when confronted in dangerous situations.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, gave the advice during an interview on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme. He cautioned that attempting to fight back against armed or violent criminals could worsen the situation and lead to loss of life.

Hundeyin stressed that preserving one’s life should take precedence over confronting criminals, noting that law enforcement agencies are trained and equipped to handle such threats.

“In the unfortunate event that you find yourself among criminals, do not struggle, do not fight, just stay calm and save your life first. We can always go after these criminals to have them arrested,” he said.

He added that the police have made significant progress in tackling criminal activities across the country, particularly the notorious ‘One-Chance’ syndicates operating in parts of Abuja.

According to Hundeyin, police operatives recently arrested members of a gang linked to the murder of a lawyer, adding that the victim’s phone was successfully recovered during the operation. He assured Nigerians that the police remain committed to tracking down criminals and improving public safety.
