- Olusegun, in a post on X, called her remarks false and misleading, accusing her of misrepresenting Nigerian law and promoting a harmful narrative.

Presidential aide Dada Olusegun has slammed UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch over her claim that Nigerian women cannot pass citizenship to their children.
Badenoch, speaking on CNN, compared Nigeria’s laws unfavorably to the UK’s, sparking backlash.
Olusegun, in a post on X, called her remarks false and misleading, accusing her of misrepresenting Nigerian law and promoting a harmful narrative.
“Aunty @KemiBadenoch, why do you continue to lie against your motherland? Why this continuous, dangerous, and desperate attempt to malign Nigeria?” he wrote.
Olusegun cited Section 25(1)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, stating that anyone born outside Nigeria is a citizen by birth if either parent is Nigerian—male or female—debunking Badenoch’s claim.
“This holds regardless of the father’s nationality. You do not need to apply for registration or naturalisation for her child to be a citizen,” Olusegun noted, accusing Badenoch of either being uninformed or deliberately misleading the public.
