Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has garnered significant attention online after a video emerged showing him personally serving food to guests during an event in Umuchima, Imo State.
In the viral footage, the former Anambra State Governor is seen moving from table to table with a tray in hand, attending to guests with a warm and approachable demeanor. Members of his team followed closely, allowing him to engage directly with attendees.
The gathering, held in the quiet community of Umuchima, highlighted Obi’s down-to-earth approach. Many observers described the moment he chose to serve food himself as the standout feature of the event, calling it a reflection of his people-first attitude.
Since the video surfaced, praise has poured in across social media platforms. Many Nigerians applauded Obi’s humility and simplicity, qualities that have shaped both his public image and political style. One social media user described him as “a true servant-leader.”
However, not everyone shared the same sentiment. Some skeptics viewed the act as a political strategy. “Don’t deceive yourself, this is desperation. Nigeria don wise pass all these,” one comment read.
The outing also marked one of Obi’s first major public appearances following his alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition a move seen as part of his broader strategy to build alliances ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
