A recent TikTok exchange between influencer Peller and a Nigerian woman serving in the US military has sparked widespread discussion about the salary differences between local uniformed workers and their international counterparts.
During the live session, the soldier spoke candidly about the financial perks of her role in the US military. She highlighted benefits that include substantial life insurance coverage.
“If anything happens to me now, my mother would receive $500,000 as a severance package,” she revealed calmly, leaving Peller momentarily stunned.
She also shared her plans for retirement, explaining that she intends to return to Nigeria and enjoy lifelong pension payments. “Once I retire, they’ll be paying me for life,” she added.
The woman further mentioned that even the lowest-ranking officer in the US military earns a minimum of $5,000 per month. “Imagine earning $5k monthly as the lowest officer, not to mention a Chief officer,” she said.
Peller appeared shocked by the figures and jokingly considered a career change. He even asked if it was still possible for him to enlist, noting that such income could be life-changing.
When he tried to defend the salaries of Nigerian police officers, the soldier simply smiled and shook her head, declining to make a comparison.
