- A video has emerged showing Enugu East Senator, Kelvin Chukwu, physically assaulting a constituent during a football competition he organised in Amurri.
- The incident, which allegedly involved his security operatives, has sparked outrage after the assaulted individual was reportedly arrested despite being attacked.

The Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, Senator Kelvin Chukwu, has come under public scrutiny after a video surfaced showing him physically assaulting a constituent during a football competition he organised.
According to SaharaReporters, the incident occurred during the final match of the tournament, which began in December 2025 and concluded on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The identity of the assaulted constituent has not been disclosed.
Footage obtained by the outlet shows the Senator engaging in a heated argument with the individual before an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said to be part of Chukwu’s security detail, physically attacked the constituent. Another clip reportedly shows a separate security operative also assaulting him, while other armed security personnel stood by.
The situation escalated further when Senator Chukwu was seen running after the individual outside the football pitch and slapping him. Despite being assaulted, the constituent was later arrested and detained.
A witness who spoke to SaharaReporters alleged that the incident followed a minor disagreement during the community Christmas football competition held in Amurri, the Senator’s village.
“Senator Kelvin Chukwu slapped one of the players after a small disagreement,” the source said. “For years, he has done nothing tangible for the community. He only organised the football competition this December because elections are approaching.”
