“Our Phones and Money Gone”- Job Seekers Allegedly Robbed at Fake Interview in Lagos

A group of job seekers in Magodo Estate, Lagos State, has raised alarm after allegedly being deceived and robbed during what was presented as a job interview.

According to reports circulating online, the victims were invited to a hotel within the upscale estate for what they believed was a legitimate recruitment exercise. Upon arrival, organizers reportedly instructed them to drop their phones, money, and other valuables in designated rooms before proceeding to another area where food was provided.

However, the situation took a shocking turn when the job seekers returned to retrieve their belongings.

“They told us to leave our things and go eat. When we came back, everything was gone,” one of the victims recounted.

The incident has sparked fear among attendees, with some expressing concerns about the possibility of a more dangerous setup, including kidnapping.

A video from the scene has since gone viral, drawing widespread reactions and highlighting the desperation faced by many youths amid rising unemployment.

Authorities have reportedly urged affected individuals to come forward and file official complaints, as investigations are expected to commence. As of the time of filing this report, no arrests have been made.

Some residents have also speculated a possible link to similar scams, including fake event setups used to lure unsuspecting victims.
