Ondo man In Police Custody for threatening to kill magistrate

Paul Oyewole has been charged by the Ondo State Police Command with threatening to kill Mrs. Mosunmola Ikujuni, a magistrate.

Oyewole was alleged to have threatened to kill the magistrate following a disagreement between the two parties.

In order to accomplish this, he was detained by the state police command’s men, who then charged him in court. The defendant was presented to the court for arraignment on a two-count charge.

The court was told during the defendant’s arraignment by police prosecutor Mr. Bernard Olagbayi that the offenses were committed on July 21, 2023, at Oka in Ondo Town, Ondo State.

The accusation reads, “That you, Paul Oyewole, did commit an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 323 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 on July 21, 2023 at Oka, Ondo in the Ondo Magisterial District by writing a threat letter to kill his worship, Magistrate Mosunmola Ikujuni, if she refuses to heed your warning. Laws of the Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

“That you, Paul Oyewole, corruptly promised to give Magistrate Mosunmola Ikujuni money or a recharge card to favor you in a case with charge number MOD/21c/2023, Commissioner of Police vs. Paul Oyewole, in which you are a defendant, and as a result, you committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 98a(b) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. Nigeria’s Ondo State Laws of 2006. “

To the accusations made against him, Oyewole, however, entered a not guilty plea.

In her decision, the magistrate, Mrs. Charity Adeyanju, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount and continued the case for a hearing on November 16, 2023.
