Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has criticized the Benue State government for permitting students to line up by the roadside to greet President Bola Tinubu upon his arrival in the state.
Ezekwesili expressed her disapproval on X on Wednesday.
It is important to note that Tinubu reached Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, in the wake of the tragic killings in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area, and other regions of the state perpetrated by armed herders.
In anticipation of his visit, students gathered along the roadside in Makurdi to welcome the President, undeterred by the rain and adverse weather conditions.
In her condemnation of this situation, Ezekwesili pointed out that some of these children may belong to families who have fallen victim to the violence of the herders.
Posting on X, she wrote: “The saddest part is that some of these children may be from among the hundreds of families mourning their loved ones and yet are compelled to stand in the rain and give misleaders that have shown ZERO care for them a “rousing welcome”.
“Things like this are why the uncaring political class of Nigeria has nothing to disincentivize their Bad Behavior and the Poor Governance it produces.
“They believe the Nigerian citizens are conquered souls. Will it always be so?
“No, because there is that one Factor that our politicians never add to their equation when they become carried away with and drunk on Public Power.”
