The apex igbo group Ohanaeze Ndigbo has requested that Ndigbo hold a one-minute quiet at noon today, September 29, 2021, as aspect of the festivities commemorating the Igbo Day of Mourning.
Recall the Ohanaeze Ndigbo had intimated that the Igbo Day celebration would be exchanged with the IGBO DAY OF MOURNING to mourn the life of Igbos lost in the fight against banditry, massacres and security operatives.
Ohanaeze revealed that there are attempts to commit ethnic cleansing in the name of fighting against the IPOB. It also demanded for the unconditional release of bodies from mortuaries to their various families for burials.
Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro posited that the Igbo Day of Mourning would be observed today at noon, September 29.
Isiguzoro said “the lives of many Igbos have been wasted either by Fulani herdsmen or security agencies and that is why we have chosen today to honour all those who have paid the supreme price.
“I, therefore, call on all Igbos, at home and in the diaspora, to observe a one-minute silence today, September 29, 2021 at noon.
“Whether they are in the office, business place, school, on the road, once it is 12 noon today, they should pause and observe a minute of silence in honour of our dead heroes and martyrs.”
“Millions of lives of our people have been wasted in one way or the other, including those who cannot even be traced by the manner of their killing. Today is a day to mourn them and as we pray that the lives of our people be preserved,”
