Obaseki’s Cousin Allegedly Stripped and Paraded to Oba’s Palace by Suspected Thugs

  • Don Pedro Obaseki, cousin to former Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki, was allegedly attacked, stripped, and dragged to the Oba of Benin’s Palace by a mob in Benin City.
  • The attackers accused him of being a traitor to the Benin Kingdom, prompting intervention from palace authorities.

In a shocking incident in Benin City, Don Pedro Obaseki, the CEO of Hosamudia Farm and cousin to former Governor Godwin Obaseki, was attacked and stripped naked by suspected thugs on Sunday.

The assault occurred at Uwa Primary School, where Obaseki had reportedly gone to play football. Following the public humiliation, the mob dragged him to the gates of the Oba’s Palace, labeling him a “traitor” to the Benin Kingdom.

The “Enemy” at the Palace Gates
The attackers presented Obaseki to palace guards, identifying him as an “Oghion” (enemy) of the Oba of Benin. The incident took place as the kingdom prepared for a major religious event.

“Today is Thanksgiving Day at the Holy Arousa. We don’t want any trouble. If there is anybody that counts himself as an enemy of the Oba, allow him and see how he will end up,” one of the palace chiefs remarked while addressing the angry crowd in the Bini language.
