Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid tribute to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a patriotic leader committed to Nigeria’s growth and advancement.

Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday in a London clinic, has continued to receive national and international tributes from prominent Nigerians and dignitaries.

In a statement released in Abeokuta by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo expressed deep sadness over the news of Buhari’s death.

Obasanjo said …

“It is with a heavy heart I received the news of the passing of a colleague, a comrade, a cool patriot and a soldier, General Muhammadu Buhari,

“He played his role as a soldier, as an administrator and a statesman among numerous obligations he performed,

“At a time like this, we need the totality of the experience and what I may call statesmanship of all those who had opportunities to run the affairs of this country to get us out of the situation we are in.

Buhari will be sorely missed and may his soul rest in perfect peace.”
