Popular Afrobeats star Davido has finally reacted after losing a massive $348,000 (about ₦495 million) following Nigeria’s defeat to Morocco in the 2026 AFCON semi-final.

The Super Eagles were eliminated after a tense encounter that ended goalless after extra time, before Morocco secured a 4–2 victory on penalties. Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou emerged as the hero of the night, making crucial saves to send the host nation into the final.

Before the match, Davido had publicly shared his betting slip, revealing he placed a $50,000 wager with a potential payout of $348,000 if Nigeria made the final.

“Nigerians to make the finals and I’ll double my stake on my slip,” Davido wrote at the time.

Unfortunately, the Eagles fell short, costing the singer the huge bet. After the loss, Davido appeared unbothered, posting a photo of himself enjoying grilled fish as he prepared to fly out of Morocco.

The post triggered mixed reactions online. While some fans dismissed the loss as pocket change for the superstar, others criticised him for gambling such an amount.

One user wrote: “If he has used the money to build shelter homes for the homeless people, generations to come will forever appreciate him.”

Another commented: “Omo the risk eeeeh all of us collect no worry.”

Others were more skeptical, with one saying: “It’s all for promo for STAKE Lol believe it at your own risk.”
