Popular social media commentator, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has weighed in on the outcome of the 68th Grammy Awards, where Nigerian artistes failed to secure wins across all nominated categories.

The award ceremony, which took place in the United States on Sunday night, saw Nigerian stars such as Davido, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Omah Lay, and Wizkid leave without any trophies, despite strong representation.

Sharing his reaction online, VDM described the outcome as disappointing but not surprising. He suggested that Nigerian artistes often contribute significantly to the visibility of the Grammy Awards but are rarely rewarded for their efforts.

“CONFIRMED 🤦‍♂️💔 All Nigerian artistes nominated at the 68th Grammy Awards have lost in all categories,” he wrote in a widely shared post.

He added that although none of the nominees would be returning to Lagos with an award, they still deserved recognition for their efforts.

VDM went further to make a bold claim, alleging that the Grammys benefit from Nigerian engagement and global fan support without adequately acknowledging it. According to him, Nigerian influence is frequently used to boost the award’s relevance.

His comments quickly ignited conversations across social media, with users divided over the credibility and fairness of the Grammy Awards. While some echoed his sentiments, others defended the institution, encouraging Nigerians to view international nominations as a sign of growth and global acceptance.

Regardless of the outcome, many fans applauded the nominated artistes for proudly representing Nigeria on the international stage and continuing to elevate Afrobeats worldwide.
