Boluwatife Balogun, popularly known as Champz and the first son of Nigerian music superstar Wizkid, recently opened up about his love for music and his ambition to establish his own identity in the industry.
In a conversation with Glitch Africa, the 14-year-old revealed that his early interest in music developed naturally through his surroundings.
“Music has always been around me my dad is in the industry, some of my friends make music, and my cousin plays the piano. I’ve been creating beats and writing songs since I was little,” he shared.
Despite being the child of one of Africa’s biggest music stars, Champz explained that he doesn’t feel pressured to match his father’s international achievements.
“There’s no pressure. I’m just 14, so I have plenty of time to grow. I’ve already achieved a lot for my age, so I’m taking it step by step,” he said confidently.
The young artist, whose debut album Champion’s Arrival has already attracted attention, also noted that he focuses on Afrofusion and rap in his music.
