- John Mikel Obi has warned Victor Osimhen following his clash with Ademola Lookman, insisting that no player is bigger than the Super Eagles after Osimhen’s reaction during Nigeria’s win over Mozambique.

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has cautioned Victor Osimhen over his conduct during Nigeria’s match against Mozambique, stressing that no player is bigger than the national team.
Mikel made the remarks on his podcast while reacting to the on-field clash between Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4–0 win at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen was seen confronting Lookman for not passing the ball and later signalled to the bench to be substituted.
Criticising the striker’s reaction, Mikel said he was unhappy with Osimhen’s body language and decision to stop making efforts during the game, as well as his immediate walk into the dressing room after the final whistle.
“The part where he stopped playing, running and making efforts; that part I don’t like,” Mikel said.
“The part where he stood up after the game and walked straight into the dressing room. That part I didn’t like.
“Football is always about the team. No individual is bigger than the national team, and Victor knows that.”
