In other news… Popular Nigerian influencer Papaya Ex has once again caused a stir on social media after revealing that she flew all the way from Nigeria to Dubai just to purchase the newly released iPhone 17 Pro Max, reportedly worth ₦4.5 million.
Taking to her social media page, the content creator expressed both excitement and disbelief over her decision, playfully asking fans if she was “crazy or just living her best life.”
Papaya explained that she decided to buy directly from an official Apple Store after a bad experience purchasing what turned out to be a refurbished iPhone in Nigeria.
According to her, the previous phone broke down during a business trip to China, leading to data loss and financial setbacks.
“I don’t blame myself at all. Once beaten, twice shy. Since then, if it’s not from an Apple store, count me out,” she wrote.
Describing the experience, Papaya said she waited for three hours at the Apple Store in Dubai before she could make her purchase, joking that the crowd was as long as a visa renewal queue.
Despite the high price tag, she was surprised to see many Nigerians buying the iPhone 17 Pro Max effortlessly, likening the purchase to buying sachet water.
“People were buying like Apple was dashing them free akara,” she joked.
She eventually got the 2TB version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, along with a screen guard, protective case, and AirPods all of which she said cost a fortune.
In her post, Papaya humorously questioned whether she made the right decision spending millions on a phone instead of buying a Toyota Camry.
“Should I have gone for a Camry, or did I make the right move?” she asked her followers.
Her revelation quickly went viral, sparking debates about luxury spending, tech obsession, and authenticity in Nigeria’s gadget market.
While some applauded her for valuing quality and avoiding fake devices, others criticized the extravagant move, suggesting the trip was more about showing off wealth than necessity.
