Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has defended his decision to travel with his two sons, Jordan and Joaquin, to the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum in Dubai, following backlash from Nigerians who accused him of misuse of public funds.

Wike maintained that he did nothing wrong, insisting no law prevents his sons from accompanying him on official engagements. He challenged critics to prove that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) sponsored their trip.

“What law says my sons shouldn’t travel? Did they sign any document? They have to know how Nigeria works,” he said.

Addressing claims that he was grooming them for politics, Wike explained that one son studied law but chose farming, while the other, with a master’s degree in economics, works in real estate.

He added that he is proud of his children, saying they have brought him comfort, not trouble.
