All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alwan Hassan, has taken a swipe at former Minister of Transportation and 2027 presidential aspirant, Chibuike Amaechi, over his recent remarks about his wife, Judith Amaechi.
Amaechi, during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, credited his wife’s entrepreneurial skills for their family’s financial stability, describing her as the “backbone” of their household.
Reacting in a separate interview on the same platform, Hassan faulted the comment, arguing that it reflected poorly on Amaechi’s ability to lead. According to him, “a man who depends on his wife is not fit to lead a country.”
Hassan maintained that Nigerians deserve a self-sufficient and capable leader, not someone who draws strength primarily from their spouse.
He said …
“Is it those ones that are saying their wives are taking care of them? We cannot hand over this country to such people, to men that are being fed by their wives.
“You know that somebody was here and said his wife is an entrepreneur and she’s…we want a man that is a man of his house. We want a man that is in charge of his house. We don’t want a man that a woman is feeding.
“We will not, no, no, we will not hand over a country to a man that is being fed by his wife. A man that is being fed by his wife. That’s what I’m saying.”
