Spotify has announced that users in Nigeria spent more than 1.3 billion hours streaming music and podcasts on the platform in 2025 an amount of time equivalent to about 149,000 years.
The streaming giant shared the figures in its 2025 Wrapped report released on Wednesday, November 3. The numbers highlight a significant jump in overall listening time and reflect the rising popularity of Nigerian artists.
The report also shows that interest in locally produced music surged, with an 82% increase in streams compared to 2024. Daily music streams went up by 23%, indicating that Nigerians consumed more music than ever.
Podcast engagement also boomed, recording a 97% rise in the total hours spent listening. Additionally, podcast creation expanded by 48% as more Nigerians ventured into content production.
This year, faith-based content dominated the podcast charts, suggesting a strong inclination toward spirituality and reflective listening among Nigerian users.
Spotify’s new “Listening Age” data revealed that the average Nigerian listener on the platform is 25 years old.
In terms of artists, Wizkid claimed the title of the most-streamed Nigerian musician on Spotify for 2025.
