“Nigerians Now Safer Under Tinubu’s Leadership”- Daniel Bwala

  • Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has asserted that Nigerians are now safer than they were before 2023, attributing the improvement to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
  • Speaking on Channels Television, Bwala said incidents such as prison breaks and mass kidnappings have significantly reduced since Tinubu assumed office.
  • He dismissed claims by U.S. lawmakers of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria as politically motivated, urging citizens to acknowledge the administration’s progress in restoring peace and stability.

The Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, has claimed that Nigeria’s security situation has improved significantly since the president took office in May 2023.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Bwala stated that major incidents such as mass prison breaks, rampant kidnappings, and widespread terrorist attacks had drastically reduced under the current administration.

“Before 2023, there were prison breaks everywhere in Nigeria, even here in Abuja. In broad daylight, people were being kidnapped before President Bola Tinubu came on board,” Bwala said. “After he became president, we have not had prison breaks. People are going about their businesses all over the country.”

The presidential aide, who previously served as spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s campaign before joining the Tinubu administration, maintained that while pockets of insecurity remain, they no longer threaten national stability.

“There are still skirmishes here and there, but they are no longer the order of the day. The president’s leadership has restored relative calm,” he added.

Bwala also addressed allegations by some U.S. lawmakers accusing the Nigerian government of enabling a “Christian genocide.” He dismissed the claims as politically motivated and based on misinformation from a local civil society group allegedly linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

“No faith group is being targeted in Nigeria. The allegation of religious persecution is baseless and unfair to the country’s security agencies who risk their lives to protect all citizens,” he said.
