- A Nigerian man has recounted how he completed NYSC after absconding to attend law school, returning later to restart the programme and finally passing out after a two-year journey.
- According to him, he was first mobilised for NYSC on November 1, 2023, and completed the three-week orientation camp on November 21, 2023.

A Nigerian man has shared his journey of eventually completing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme after a two-year process marked by interruptions and remobilisation.
The man, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @maaxthewave, reflected on his experience while celebrating his successful passing out from the compulsory national service scheme.
According to him, he was first mobilised for NYSC on November 1, 2023, and completed the three-week orientation camp on November 21, 2023. However, his service year was cut short in February 2024 when he absconded from the programme to attend law school.
After completing his law school programme, he returned in November 2024 and attempted to resume his NYSC service. Due to NYSC regulations, he was informed that he had to start the programme afresh.
Although he initiated the remobilisation process in November 2024, approval did not come until January 2025, when he was officially allowed to restart the service year.
Explaining his experience after being questioned online, he wrote:
“I first started November 1st 2023. Did camp till November 21st 2023. Dropped out (absconded) February 2024 for law school. Came back from law school November 10th 2024. Tried to restart my NYSC (as I had to start afresh) that same November. They restarted me January 2025.”
His story has since drawn reactions online, with many users sharing similar experiences and discussing the challenges of balancing professional education with the NYSC scheme.
