A Nigerian man identified as Dr. Stan has sparked debate online after revealing that he banned his foreign (oyibo) wife from using social media for the past eight months.
In a post shared on his 𝕏 handle, Stan said no Nigerian man could successfully stop his Nigerian wife from being active on social platforms. He claimed, however, that he imposed such a restriction on his conservative foreign wife and has been enforcing it for months without any resistance.
Bragging about his authority in the marriage, Stan added that when his wife eventually returns to social media, it would be strictly on his terms.
His remarks have since stirred mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians questioning his stance on control in relationships, while others found his comment humorous.

In other news…. A Nigerian man has questioned celebrity chef Hilda Baci’s plan to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice in a six-by-six meter pot.
In a TikTok video, user @sleekpapi_ highlighted potential issues, including sudden rain, birds dropping waste, workers falling while stirring, and uneven cooking or burning at the bottom.
The clip sparked online debate, with some agreeing with his concerns while others expressed confidence in Baci’s ability to handle the challenge.
“What if it rains? This is a very big pot. How are they going to cover it quickly, especially since they’ll need to open it to add spices?” he asked.
“What if a bird flies past and drops shit inside? What if someone falls in—not Hilda, since she has experience, but one of her workers who may not be as experienced? I see they are using ladders to climb and reach the food. What if someone slips and falls inside?”
“That would be a real burnt offering. And this food—is it not too much? How will the spoon have enough strength to turn it?”
“Even in this test run, you can see the stress it takes to stir with that very long and heavy spoon. When the food gets to a higher level and starts burning at the bottom, how will she be able to turn it properly and make sure the ingredients spread evenly? There are so many questions to ask. How will the heat even rise and cook the food well?”
