A young Nigerian woman has stirred conversations on social media after recounting how her close friend, who once identified strongly as a feminist, abandoned her long-held principles about marriage and independence.
From Strong Feminist to Housewife
Sharing the story on X (formerly Twitter), user @itzchristunique revealed that her friend was financially stable, invested in multiple businesses, and often declared that she didn’t need a man to succeed in life.
According to Christy, the friend repeatedly vowed never to marry unless her partner agreed to her strict conditions on gender equality and commitment. Their differing views on relationships even strained their friendship, with Christy insisting no man would ever accept such terms.
However, the unexpected happened. In February, Christy received a wedding invitation from the same friend. When asked if her husband accepted her earlier terms, the friend reportedly laughed it off, saying she was relocating from Abuja to Port Harcourt to join her man.
Christy added that the friend is currently pregnant, joking that she is about to become an aunty.
