The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has denied reports that it inscribed solely herdsmen symbols on the country’s new passport.
Gistlover understands that the Founder of the Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) Apostle Johnson Suleman had raised the alarm that the new passport contained symbols belonging to herdsmen.
Apostle Suleman in a tweet which he has now deleted, alleged that the herdsmen symbols were part of a bigger “evil agenda in Nigeria.”
“That’s the new Nigeria passport..it now has herdsmen inscribed in it…it’s shameful that a certain extraction now represents a nation with 6 geopolitical zones..everything is now very clear. God will frustrate every evil agenda in Nigeria.job 5v12,eccl 8v11,” he tweeted.
However, in a statement, the NIS Comptroller Muhammad Babandede described the claims as false.
According to him, “Many countries including Nigeria often use their vital public structures and documents to display their cultural heritage.
“The pages of the new enhanced e-Passport are beautifully adorned with the cultural symbols/artifacts of the various ethnic groups in the country.
“Nigerians who have been issued with this very Passport are advised to check through the pages to verify our position on the matter. However, suffice that we display some pages of the document here:
