  • The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has temporarily suspended Burna Boy’s tracks.
  • DJs in Nigeria and internationally are directed to remove his songs from their sets.
  • The suspension follows a nightclub altercation involving Burna Boy, his entourage, and DJ Tunez.

The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has imposed a temporary suspension on Burna Boy’s tracks, directing DJs both within Nigeria and internationally to remove his songs from their sets. This action comes in the wake of reports about a nightclub altercation involving Burna Boy, his entourage, and DJ Tunez, which reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation.

Eyewitnesses who shared details online claimed that DJ Tunez was targeted during the incident. In response, the NDJ released a statement underlining its dedication to safeguarding DJs and ensuring fairness across the industry. The statement emphasized the importance of unity and tolerance, noting that hatred is learned and, just as it can be acquired, love and respect can also be nurtured naturally among people.

Reaffirming its core principle that “all DJs are equal,” the association encouraged DJs worldwide to uphold values of respect, impartiality, and inclusivity, irrespective of gender, religion, or background. The NDJ highlighted that championing human rights within the DJ community is essential to combating discrimination in broader society.

The association confirmed that Burna Boy’s music will remain excluded from playlists until a comprehensive investigation into the nightclub incident is concluded. DJs were reminded to exercise caution and maintain professionalism when interacting with artists at events.

NDJ concluded its announcement with a message promoting solidarity within the community: “Respect the DJs. DJs to DJs is highly effective. Remember @WeAreTheNigerianDJ.”

@lextwinss:”Lowkey I’m not in support of their fight or issue, but this sort of sits well, when a particular person in your group of field of work is attacked or belittled for whatever reason it is essential y’all in the community or group do something about it, Dj’s are humans too and Dj work isn’t as easy as many people see it. Keep favorite artiste aside if something is wrong? Then it is wrong. The way the issue was handled especially having to kick someone as Djtunez on the floor like that isn’t nice atall, naija! Na we they do ourself sha. Cause how outsiders go take respect us?”
