Nigeria Has No Reason To Be Poor – Tinubu tells APC Governors

President Bola Tinubu declared that there was no reason for Nigeria to be impoverished and named division as one of the main issues facing the country.

At a meeting with governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) at the State House in Abuja on Friday, he made these statements.

In order to promote a shared national vision and allocate funds and efforts to nation-building, President Tinubu emphasized that the governing party must endeavor to mend and unify the nation.

He asked the governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put policies into effect that put the interests of Nigerians first, regardless of party allegiance.

Development policies, in Tinubu’s opinion, will only be fully applicable to people’s lives when there is sustainability, ownership, and inclusivity.

He said that he was confident in Nigeria’s wealth of natural, human, and material resources and that the nation’s financial system will be redesigned with inclusion, efficacy, and efficiency in mind.

“We have no reason to be poor. Looking back on where we are coming from, where we have been, why we are facing infrastructural decay, a lack of quality and comprehensive education, as well as a lack of health facilities. We are not a cursed country, but blessed,’’ the President said in a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.

President Tinubu urged governors to create a plan for the thorough and effective execution of the school feeding program in every state, emphasizing the significance of including governors from the opposition. He pointed out that the scheme might promote investments in agriculture, especially in dairy and cattle farming.

Tinubu also spoke about security measures, including the use of specialized police to protect the solid mineral and marine economic sectors and the deployment of forest guards with improved training and cutting-edge technology. In order to increase the nation’s foreign exchange reserve, he suggested that gold and other minerals be bought and conserved.

“We have a big marine economy, and I do not see why we should not have the marine police. We will have the same in solid minerals to keep the scavengers away. I am ready to invest in security. We will buy our own minerals and keep them in reserves, especially gold, which will be effective in our foreign exchange reserves,’’ the president told the governors.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who is also the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, responded by thanking the president for giving the states financial support in addition to incorporating governors in the creation and execution of policies. As the president’s envoys, Uzodinma promised the governors’ unwavering support.

“We will continue to support you as your able ambassadors, willing ambassadors, and capable ambassadors,’’ Governor Uzodinma said.
