Niger Assembly Seeks Ban on Sign Out Ceremonies in all public and private secondary and tertiary schools

The Niger State House of Assembly has urged Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to issue an executive order banning Marker’s Day/Sign Out ceremonies in all public and private secondary and tertiary schools.

This follows a motion by Hon. Muhammad Sani Idris (Tafa), who cited rising cases of misconduct and immoral behavior during such events, warning that they undermine the state’s educational values and promote indiscipline.

The motion received unanimous support from other lawmakers, who agreed it was a timely intervention, reflecting growing public concern over the issue.

Idris explained opined …

“Ongoing trend of signing out from schools, which is presumably intended to be a celebration by final-year students, has recently been characterised by unruly behaviour and misconduct.”
