NAPTIP Reacts As Nigerians Demand Simi’s Arrest Over Resurfaced Tweets

  • The Federal Government has responded to controversy surrounding Nigerian singer Simi.
  • Old social media posts attributed to Simi resurfaced online, causing public outcry.
  • The posts are believed to be from over a decade ago, during her time at her mother’s daycare.

The Federal Government has reacted to the controversy involving Nigerian singer Simi after old social media posts linked to her resurfaced online.

The issue began when screenshots of tweets, said to have been written more than a decade ago during the period she worked at her mother’s daycare centre, started making the rounds on social media. As the posts spread, some Nigerians called on authorities to look into the matter and determine whether further action was necessary.

With the conversation gaining momentum, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) stepped in to address the concerns.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 24, the agency acknowledged the public reaction and reaffirmed its responsibility to investigate credible allegations involving misconduct in daycare facilities.

According to NAPTIP, it remains committed to thoroughly examining any reliable reports connected to alleged incidents in childcare settings across the country.

The agency also appealed to members of the public who may have firsthand information, verifiable details, or relevant evidence related to the circulating posts to come forward and share such information through confidential channels.

@lifereportss:”Contact the daycare to take recordings of all the children who schooled there between 2011-2015. After which you do a proper investigation with the adults that where then kids as at that year. Stop avoiding name calling, @SympLySimi is the accused.”
