Naira Abuse: EFCC Arrest Cubana Chief Priest, Date Of Court Appearance Fixed

Following rumours of the EFCC’s anticipated arraignment of entrepreneur and social media figure Pascal Okechukwu Chibuike, also known as Cubana Chiefpriest, for Naira Abuse, he is alleged to have already been detained.

Linda Ikeji’s Blog (LIB) claimed to have obtained unique information confirming his custody by the EFCC.

According to an EFCC source who talked with LIB, the precise timing of Chiefpriest’s arrest has not been announced, but he is now in detention and is set to appear in court on April 17.

The EFCC is prosecuting Chiefpriest for suspected Naira spraying and tampering at an event held at the Eko Hotel on February 13th, 2024, as well as events in Lagos in January 2024 and 2020.

This comes only days after Bobrisky, the flamboyant cross-dresser, was sentenced to six months in prison with no chance of a fine.

The thundering decision resonated through the courtroom on Friday morning, April 12, sending shockwaves throughout social media.

The social media celebrity was arrested on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Pinnock Estate in Lagos state for abusing the naira during actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao’s Ajakaju movie premiere.

The crossdresser was arraigned on a six-count charge on Friday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

While four of the charges are related to naira abuse, the remaining two counts involve alleged money laundering.

The self-proclaimed transgender, however, pleaded guilty to the first four counts bordering on naira abuse.

Abimbola Awogboro, the presiding judge, struck out counts five and six following the request of the EFCC’s counsel.

The crossdresser was returned back to the EFCC custody as the case was adjourned till April 9.

But on April 7, the federal government declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holidays for this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration for the Muslims.

On Tuesday, the government also declared April 11 as public holiday.
