“Na We Know Where The Shoe Pinches”- Ex-Miss Pepeiye Addresses Attacks On Papa Ajasco

  • Bolatito Sowunmi, known for her role as Miss Pepeye in “Papa Ajasco and Company,” has spoken out about her former co-stars.
  • Her comments come after Abiodun Ayoyinka, who plays Papa Ajasco, revealed he is experiencing financial difficulties.
  • Ayoyinka has publicly requested assistance to help with his financial situation.

Bolatito Sowunmi, the actress known for her role as Miss Pepeye in Wale Adenuga’s hit comedy series Papa Ajasco and Company, has finally addressed the ongoing debate surrounding her former co-stars.

Her remarks follow revelations from Abiodun Ayoyinka, the actor behind the Papa Ajasco character, who recently disclosed that he is facing financial difficulties and appealed for public assistance.

Reports indicate that Ayoyinka stated Wale Adenuga Productions (WAP) limits his ability to profit from the Papa Ajasco character outside of the show, which affects his income. Wale Adenuga, however, responded by clarifying that Ayoyinka can participate in advertising projects with WAP approval, describing the actor’s claims as overstated and a “public show of comedy.”

Kayode Olaseinde, popularly called Pa James in the series, also spoke about his experience, acknowledging that earnings from the production alone are insufficient to cover living expenses.

In a detailed post on her Facebook and Instagram accounts on March 22, 2026, Bolatito Sowunmi, who joined the series in 2006 and left after ten years, urged the public to show understanding rather than criticize veteran actors for discussing their struggles.

She emphasized that only those who have been part of the series truly know the challenges involved, and financial hardships should not be dismissed.

Sowunmi wrote:

“Those criticizing Papa Ajasco for being open should relax. We were there, we know the difficulties. Not everyone seeks social media clout, which is why many remain silent. Some believe I’m downplaying the concerns of an older colleague, but I am much younger than him. He was working before I joined the team.”

She also addressed comparisons between herself and the current actress portraying Miss Pepeye, clarifying that her exit was due to personal reasons, not conflicts.

“I resigned for reasons known only to me, and there’s now a talented young lady in the role. I’m focused on my life, so please don’t use me as a benchmark,” she said.

Sowunmi expressed gratitude toward WAP, highlighting its importance as a platform for creative talents.

“I will never speak ill of Wale Adenuga Productions. They have provided a noble platform for creatives, and it is truly appreciated,” she stated.

Reflecting on the broader entertainment industry in Nigeria, the actress pointed out that many actors who maintain integrity face challenges, regardless of appearances on social media.

“The industry is tough. How many genuine actors who uphold their values are actually thriving? Social media often creates a misleading impression,” she added.

She stressed the importance of believing actors who admit they are struggling and encouraged public support rather than criticism.

“If an older colleague speaks up, the best response is to support them however you can. Life is too short for unnecessary judgment. If someone says they are struggling, believe them. Do you want them to stay silent and suffer in poverty?”

Looking back on her time with the show, Sowunmi praised her co-stars’ dedication and said she would help them financially if she were able. She also revealed that she now goes by the nickname Ms Eagle, as the Miss Pepeye name is copyrighted by WAP.

“I have adopted the nickname ‘Ms Eagle’ so fans can easily follow me. Miss Pepeye belongs to Wale Adenuga Productions and is a registered trademark. Any actor playing that role has access to the name only during their tenure,” she concluded.
