She made the disclosure during an interview on Naija FM, where she cleared up the long-standing belief that she gave herself the name.
According to the actress, the nickname was actually given to her by her husband, Matthew Ekeinde.
During the lively conversation, the host asked in pidgin, “Who give you that name? Na we give you that name? Abi na you give yourself that name?” reflecting the curiosity that has surrounded the brand for years.
Omotola laughed before replying, “Na my honey boy give me that name… e buy me one Lincoln Navigator that time… e put am for the plate number.”
She explained that her husband bought her a Lincoln Navigator and customised the plate number with “Omosexy.”
What started as a romantic gesture eventually grew into one of the most recognised celebrity nicknames in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
