Veteran Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has revealed that his eldest son, Nino, does not plan to pursue a career in music.
Although Nino is a skilled saxophonist, 2Face shared that his son aspires to become a medical doctor instead.
The singer made this known while introducing Nino on stage during an event in Abuja celebrating his 25-year journey in the music industry.
“Give it up for my son Nino, mehn,” 2Face told the audience as he brought him on stage. “He said he doesn’t want to be a singer. He wants to be a doctor,” he added, drawing cheers from the crowd.
2Face shares Nino with his former partner, Sumbo Adeoye, who is now married to a Church General Overseer. Besides playing the saxophone, Nino is also a model and social media personality.
Following in their parents’ footsteps is common in Nigeria’s music scene. For example, Wizkid’s eldest son, Boluwatife Balogun, recently launched his music career at 14 under the stage name Champz, releasing his debut EP titled Champions’ Arrival.
