Onyeka Onwenu, the Popular Nigerian songstress, has recounted how her mother lost her husbands at a very young age.
The song writer revealed how her late mother lost two husbands before she married her late father at the age of 37.
In a chat with a news outlet, Onwenu narrated her late mother Hope Onwenu’s ordeal and sacrifice in ensuring her children have a better life.
Onwenu, who lost her mother 12 years ago at the of 92-year-old, described her as a strong, powerful, and incredible woman.
She wrote:
“My mother, by aged 37, has lost two husbands. The first husband died just a year after the marriage,” she began.
Furthermore, the singer who is also the mother of two said:
“My mother had my elder sister just 8 days after her husband died. And the family took the child away from her because she refused to marry her late husband’s younger brother. So, she could not have access to her daughter for many years”
“After some years, she was also married to one of the wealthiest men in town but at the end of the day, she lost him without inheriting anything. This woman never gave up as she married again to my father who was a self-made man and just when she would relax and have a good life he was involved in a motor accident and died.”
Having lost her father, Dickson Kanu Onwenu, at a tender age, the female song writer said she grew up seeing her widowed mother catering to her five children, and this is why she always gets involved and emotional when it comes to helping widows.
