Apostle Helen Ukpabio, evangelist and founder of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries, has issued a strong warning to Christians about observing globally recognized days like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Children’s Day.
She described such celebrations as “modern-day idolatry,” asserting that they are deeply rooted in pagan traditions.
“These idols kept those days as taboo days. They didn’t go to the farm. They exchanged gifts and did all these rituals. That’s what you’re repeating today just in another form,” she explained.
Ukpabio emphasized that what many see as harmless fun is actually a subtle form of idol worship. She claimed the devil uses these events to trick believers into honoring ancient customs unknowingly.
“The Bible already warned us,” she said, referring to the book of Acts.
Questioning the origin of these special days, she asked, “You keep saying Happy Mother’s Day, Happy Father’s Day… From what platform?”
She added that such honour should not be limited to one day: “You owe your parents every day. Not just one day.”
Apostle Ukpabio concluded with a stern caution: “The Bible doesn’t want you to be an idolater. The penalty is grave.”
