Veteran Nollywood star Kanayo O. Kanayo expressed a mix of pride and sorrow as his son, Clinton Onyekwere Kanayo, concluded his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
Sharing a video of Clinton in his NYSC attire holding his completion certificate, Kanayo celebrated his son’s accomplishment while reflecting on the recent tragic events in Jos, Plateau State.
He acknowledged his gratitude to God for his son’s successful service year but admitted that the recent killings in the country cast a shadow over his joy.
In his post, he wrote: “Please join me in thanking Chukwu Okike Abiama, The Almighty God, for my son, Clinton Onyekwere, Onyeze Mbaise, on completion of his NYSC. More to say, but the BLOODSHED in the LAND would not let me. I rejoice. Others mourn. Pathetically SAD. @clintonkanayo.”
Kanayo’s message highlighted the stark contrast between personal milestones and national tragedies, showing how celebrations can be tempered by the grief experienced by others. His post not only marked his son’s achievement but also drew attention to the heartbreak of families affected by the violence in Jos.
