A viral video has captured the moment a University of Lagos (UNILAG) first-class graduate celebrated his academic achievement by recreating football star Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “Sui” celebration during his convocation ceremony.
UNILAG held its 56th convocation ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, 2025, where a total of 5,665 students were awarded various degrees and diplomas.
In the trending clip, the young graduate—fully dressed in his academic gown—was seen receiving his certificate from the Vice-Chancellor. Moments later, he dashed across the aisle to gather momentum before jumping and striking Ronaldo’s famous “Sui” pose, drawing excitement and reactions both at the venue and online.
The celebration quickly sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some applauded his confidence and joy, others expressed concern about the realities awaiting graduates in Nigeria’s challenging job market.
