So far, Five lawmakers in Nigeria have contracted Coronavirus since the pandemic broke out in the country.
Nigeria has recorded over 25, 000 confirmed Coronavirus cases with some recoveries and deaths.
Among these confirmed cases of COVID19 are five state governors who have also tested positive.
The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdukadir Mohammed on March 24, tested positive for Coronavirus after having contact with Atiku Abubakr’s son who was infected with the disease.
He, however, revealed on Twitter on April 9, that he has fully recovered after testing negatve after 16 days of quarantine.
The Governor for Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai was the second to have been confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Malam Nasir made the confirmation in a video he posted on social media stating that he has self-isolated and after weeks of treatment, he tested positive.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde was the third to be announced as a COVID-19 patient.
Seyi Makinde was among the participants of the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja where he met with other governors after which the Nigerian Governor’s Forum (NGF) advised all those who partook in the meeting to self-isolate and take a Coronavirus test.
On June 8, Okezie Ikpeazu, the Abia State Governor was confirmed positive for Coronavirus.
Okezie Ikpeazu is reportedly still receiving treatment after an official statement announcing his status was made known.
The Ondo state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu was the 6th lawmaker in Nigeria to have contracted the Coronavirus.
Rotimi Akeredolu announced in a broadcast on June 30, that he tested positive for COVID-19 and revealed that he is yet to show any symptom.
