The Edochie family was filled with joy on Saturday, March 9, as veteran actor Pete Edochie, famously known as the Lion of Africa, celebrated his 79th birthday.
To mark the occasion, Pete shared several heartwarming photos on his official Instagram account, captioning them simply: “79 today. Thanksgiving.”
His son, actor Yul Edochie, also paid tribute to his father with a touching post. Alongside a photo of Pete, Yul wrote:
“Nwoke Ike. The Lion of Africa. The most handsome 79-year-old alive. Happy birthday, Dad Chief Pete Edochie @peteedochie. Ebubedike. Wishing you many more wonderful years. May God always guide you. My man for life.”
Fans and celebrities joined the celebration online, including Yul’s estranged wife, May, and his second wife, Judy Austin, who both left heartfelt messages on Pete’s Instagram page.
May commented:
“Happy birthday to the Lion of Africa! May the good Lord continue to strengthen you.”
Judy Austin added:
“EBUBEDIKE The Lion of Africa!!! Happy birthday, Daddy. May God’s love and mercy continue to shine in your life. Amen. We love you, sir.”
