Man Who Accused Regina Daniels Of Cheating Lands In Prison, Court Sets Bail Hearing

  • Tumma, a popular TikTok creator, has been detained.
  • He is held at Kuje Correctional Centre after being charged with defamation, cyberstalking, and publishing falsehoods.
  • The charges are related to allegations he made about Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

What started as a heated social media outburst has led to the detention of popular TikTok content creator Gabriel Timothy, widely known as Tumma.

He is currently being held at Kuje Correctional Centre following his arraignment on charges of defamation, cyberstalking, and the publication of injurious falsehoods. These charges stem from allegations he made online about Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, who is also the wife of Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North.

Tumma reportedly accused the actress of engaging in extramarital affairs and openly called on Senator Nwoko to address the issue. His comments quickly drew public attention and legal consequences.

The Federal High Court in Abuja is set to decide on his bail application on July 25, 2025. At a recent hearing, Tumma’s lawyer, S.M. Oyeghe, urged the court to consider bail, citing that the offenses are bailable under Nigerian law and emphasizing constitutional rights to personal liberty.

However, the prosecution opposed the request, arguing that the defense failed to present sufficient grounds for bail. Presiding Judge Yilwa H. Joseph postponed the ruling.

In response to the allegations, Senator Nwoko’s legal representatives condemned Tumma’s remarks as malicious and harmful to both the senator and his wife’s reputation.

In a strongly-worded statement, Nwoko said:

“There is no democracy anywhere in the world where freedom of speech includes freedom to defame, blackmail, or incite hatred under the guise of online influence.”
