Man Urges People with Albinism to Embrace Their Uniqueness

Offor Daniel Onyii, a Nigerian advocate for inclusion and empowerment, has shared a heartfelt message to people living with albinism, encouraging them to prioritize their mental health, pursue their life goals, and take proper care of their skin.

In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, Onyii reflected on International Albinism Awareness Day, celebrated every June 13, and used the opportunity to connect with fellow persons with albinism around the world.

His post reads…

“Dear Albinos all over the world, last month was our month especially on the 13th of June. I hope you are doing great? I hope you taking your mental health seriously? I hope you are taking good care of your beautiful skin? I hope you are working towards achieving your goals in life?,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

“Remember, absence of melanin in your skin doesn’t make you deformed. You are complete, just like everyone else. Don’t allow anyone to hold you down because of your skin color. You can achieve whatever you set your mind to achieve.

“Albinism doesn’t make you less of a human. You are AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL just the way you are.

“Take good care of yourself and remember, the sun is our number one enemy. Guard your skin from it and you will see that you will not need cosmetics for your skin to GLOW.”
