A Nigerian man cycling from Nigeria to the U.S. has reached Togo after eight days on the road.
In a video shared on X by @vdmempire, he spoke about his journey and the difficulties he faced finding a place to sleep in Togo.
“Yesterday, we made it to Togo. I crossed the border around 3–4 p.m., rode another 10 to 15 kilometers, and started looking for a place to rest,” he said. “I met a young guy who offered to help. We went to a hotel, but they were asking for 10–15 thousand CFA, which I didn’t have.”
He continued, “The guy then suggested I follow him home to speak with his father. Surprisingly, his father—who, according to the boy, hardly lets strangers into their home—instantly liked me. He welcomed me warmly and even asked me to go bring my bag.”
“Though they offered me a room, I declined. I told them I had my own camp, my bed. I set up my tent outside and that’s where I slept.”
The cyclist, known by his handle @emmiwuks, also celebrated the achievement on his page.
He wrote: “Day 8. Project NIG2USA 🇳🇬🇺🇸 ON BICYCLE. By the grace of God, I made it to TOGO 🇹🇬 today! Every pedal forward is a step closer to the dream—raising awareness and support for IDPs and orphaned children across Africa. Thank you all for the prayers, support, and encouragement. Let’s keep going—one border at a time! 🌍❤️”
His post drew a wave of support, with many Nigerians filling the comment section with admiration, prayers, and words of encouragement for his bold journey ahead.
