A Nigerian man identified as Moses has been arrested for abducting and killing his 38-year-old colleague, Victor Ochei, after collecting a ₦300,000 ransom from the victim’s family.
The tragic incident occurred in Umunede, Ika North East LGA of Delta State, where both men worked at an oil mill. Moses, originally from Kogi State, allegedly lured Victor to a bush in Ute-Okpu on Sunday, June 29, under the pretense of showing him palm fruits. While Victor was distracted, Moses struck him on the head with a stick, killing him instantly and hiding his body under palm fronds.
Shockingly, after the murder, Moses used Victor’s phone to demand a ₦10 million ransom from the family. Unaware that Victor was already dead, they sent ₦300,000 to the kidnapper’s Opay account.
The suspect was later tracked down and arrested by security operatives, where he confessed to the crime. Victor was buried on Friday, July 4, 2025, at his Umunede residence.
