- Mahdi Shehu has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu over alleged remarks praising U.S. military strikes in Northern Nigeria, accusing her of hostility toward Muslims and a lack of empathy for affected communities.
- He alleged that she shows no remorse over harm inflicted on Muslim communities and accused her of lacking empathy when disasters affect areas predominantly inhabited by Muslims.

Mahdi Shehu has accused First Lady Oluremi Tinubu of showing hostility toward Northern Muslims following reports of her alleged comments on U.S. military strikes in Northern Nigeria.
Reacting on X on Tuesday, Shehu said the reported remarks appeared to validate long-held perceptions about the First Lady in some quarters.
“If indeed Pastor Remi said so, then it means what many people are saying about her and the conclusions in many circles are either true or confirmed,” he wrote.
According to Shehu, many Northern Muslims now view Mrs Tinubu as openly hostile to Muslims. He alleged that she shows no remorse over harm inflicted on Muslim communities and accused her of lacking empathy when disasters affect areas predominantly inhabited by Muslims.
“That she can go all along to inflict deep-seated injuries to Muslims without feeling any sense of guilt,” he claimed.
Shehu further stated that Muslims would continue to exist in Nigeria regardless of political leadership or foreign military actions.
“Up to the time of her death, exit from the villa, her post-villa life, there will always be Muslims in Nigeria practising Islam,” he said.
He added that Islam and Christianity would continue to coexist across Nigeria’s ethnic groups, insisting that no external force could change the country’s religious makeup.
Shehu’s remarks followed reports that Mrs Tinubu described the Christmas Day military strikes ordered by former U.S. President Donald Trump as a blessing and expressed expectations of continued collaboration. She was reportedly speaking during an interview with Fox News while visiting the United States after attending the National Prayer Breakfast.
