In other news, Nigerian music sensation Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has revealed that his passion for music and dance started at a remarkably young age. Speaking during a recent appearance on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast hosted by Joey Akan, the singer shared that he began sneaking out to attend parties when he was just nine years old.
“At that age, I already loved Afrobeats and Dancehall,” Ruger recounted. “I used to sneak out to parties just to dance. I wasn’t even 10 yet, but I could move my body and really loved the vibe.”
Ruger gained widespread recognition in 2021 following the release of his hit track Bounce. That breakout moment led to a record deal with Jonzing World, under which he also dropped his debut EP Pandemic, establishing him as a rising star in the Afrobeats scene.
In 2024, Ruger parted ways with Jonzing World after reported tensions with label boss D’Prince. He has since launched his own record label, Blown Boy Entertainment, marking a new chapter in his musical career.
