Prophet Segun Arole has issued an emotional plea to gospel musicians and key figures in the entertainment world on behalf of the late Bunmi Akinnanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi.

The late singer’s family had previously announced the cancellation of her burial plans just days after her final rites programme was made public online. Reports indicated that the postponement was due to unresolved issues within the family.

Following this, some gospel artists and celebrities reportedly expressed disinterest in participating in her burial arrangements.

In a video shared on Instagram by blogger Temilola Sobola on Monday, January 26, Prophet Arole urged these artistes and celebrities to come together to honor the late singer, noting that her family had now reached a resolution.

He disclosed that the new burial date has been set for Wednesday, January 28.

“Artistes had planned a meeting to discuss the burial of gospel singer Bunmi Akinnanu (Omije Ojumi), and the family had provided a date. Alayo Singer had even paid for the coffin and cemetery. Suddenly, the family stopped responding to calls from the artistes. Now, the family is requesting support for the burial, but artistes feel discouraged. I am asking, for Bunmi’s sake, that they forgive the family and allow her to receive a proper farewell,” Prophet Arole said in Yoruba in the video.

A funeral flyer for Omije Ojumi, who passed away on January 12, 2026, has also surfaced online, outlining the updated burial plans.

According to the flyer, a service of song and candlelight procession is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, followed by interment on Thursday, January 29.
